Robotic Surgery

Introducing the Future of Robotic Surgery

Maybe it started gradually — a dull ache in your knee after nightly walks or a stiff hip that made it hard to get out of the car. You pushed through it, but now it’s difficult to ignore. These aches can make you feel weak, stealing your mobility and freedom.

That’s why we invested in advanced surgical technology: the Mako SmartRobotics™. It’s designed to bring surgical precision, faster relief and improved mobility. With robotic-assisted surgery, we help patients reclaim the delight of daily rhythms — not just endure them.

What Is Mako Robotic-Assisted Surgery?

Mako SmartRobotics™ is an advanced surgical system that helps orthopedic surgeons perform joint replacements with remarkable results. Joint replacements are not all the same. While traditional surgeries help millions of patients each year, robotic-assisted surgery offers an advanced level of precision, personalization and protection. Using 3D imaging, digital measurements and CT scans, the surgical team can make a strategic plan based on your specific anatomy.

Benefits of Robotic-Assisted Joint Replacements

Using 3D imaging and real-time feedback, this advanced technology allows for:

  • Personalized surgical planning
  • More consistent results
  • Smaller and more precise cutting
  • Less trauma to surrounding tissue
  • Faster recovery and improved mobility

Who’s It For?

Thanks to advanced techniques and tools, most patients are candidates for robotic-assisted surgery, regardless of age, weight or body size. Your surgeon will tailor the procedure to your unique anatomy by choosing the right implant size and incision length.

What to Expect

Getting a joint replacement can feel like a big step, but knowing what to expect can help. It all begins with a consultation. You’ll meet with one of our orthopedic specialists who will ask questions about your symptoms, medical history and daily limits. They’ll review imaging to determine if robotic-assisted surgery is right for you.

Before surgery, you’ll get a CT scan that creates a 3D model of your joint. This information allows your surgeon to make a detailed plan, down to a millimeter.

One the day of surgery, your care team will guide you from registration to recovery. Most patients are up and walking either the same day or the next day. Many return home within 24 hours, depending on the type of joint replaced and the patient’s overall health.

We know that recovery doesn’t stop when you leave the hospital. That’s why we create a personalized plan that supports your health and healing. This plan will likely include physical therapy and follow-up visits.
