Early Signs of a Heart Attack
Early symptoms of a heart attack can happen hours or even days before the heart attack itself. The longer a heart attack goes untreated, the more damage it can do to your heart. That’s why it’s important to recognize the symptoms early.
Symptoms of a heart attack can include:
- Chest pain or discomfort
- Feeling weak or faint
- Pain or discomfort in your back, neck, or jaw
- Pain that travels down one or both arms
- Shortness of breath
- Unexplained tiredness or fatigue
- Nausea or vomiting
- Feeling of fullness
When to Seek Emergency Care
If you experience one or more of these symptoms, seek care immediately. If you think you might be having a medical emergency, call 9-1-1.
It is best to call 9-1-1 for rapid transport to the Emergency Room, as you will be accompanied by trained EMS staff who have the tools to revive someone if their heart has stopped.
