Maria Parham Health Welcomes Orthopedic Surgeon Dr. Damian M. Rispoli

Maria Parham Health is pleased to announce that Damian M. Rispoli, MD, FAAOS, FAOA, has joined Maria Parham Health and is now accepting new patients.

Dr. Rispoli is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon with more than 25 years of experience in orthopedic surgery and subspecialty expertise in shoulder and elbow reconstruction. He has built a distinguished career in clinical practice, military medicine, academic leadership and research, providing advanced care for patients with complex musculoskeletal conditions.

A graduate of the F. Edward Hébert School of Medicine at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, Maryland, Dr. Rispoli completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Wilford Hall Medical Center at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. He later completed a prestigious fellowship in Shoulder and Elbow Surgery at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, training under internationally recognized leaders in upper-extremity reconstruction.

Throughout his career, Dr. Rispoli has held numerous leadership positions, including Chairman and Vice Chairman of Orthopedics within the San Antonio Military Health System and Chief of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery for the U.S. Department of Defense. He served multiple deployments in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and was awarded the Bronze Star and Legion of Merit for his military service.

Most recently, Dr. Rispoli served as an orthopedic surgeon and shoulder and elbow specialist at WVU Weirton Medical Center in West Virginia, where he developed a high-volume shoulder and elbow reconstruction practice and became the region’s sole provider for revision shoulder and elbow arthroplasty.

In addition to his clinical accomplishments, Dr. Rispoli has held academic appointments with West Virginia University, Duquesne University, Geisinger Commonwealth Medical School and the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications, book chapters and editions of Pocket Orthopaedica, a widely used orthopedic reference guide.
