Maria Parham Health Supports Heart Health Awareness on Wear Red Day

Maria Parham Health joined communities across the nation in recognizing Wear Red Day, an annual initiative dedicated to raising awareness about heart disease and the importance of heart health.

On Friday, February 6, team members throughout the health system wore red in support of the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women® movement. Wear Red Day highlights the fact that heart disease remains the leading cause of death for women and encourages education, prevention and early detection.

“Wear Red Day is an important reminder that heart health should never be taken for granted,” said Bert Beard, chief executive officer of Maria Parham Health. “By participating, our team is helping raise awareness and reinforce the message that small, proactive steps can make a meaningful difference in preventing heart disease in our community.”

The Go Red for Women® initiative focuses on increasing awareness of women’s heart health, promoting healthy lifestyle choices and empowering individuals to understand their personal risk factors. Wearing red serves as a visible symbol of support and sparks conversations about the importance of cardiovascular care.

Maria Parham Health encourages community members to prioritize heart health by maintaining regular checkups, managing risk factors and adopting heart-healthy habits year-round.
