Maria Parham Health is proud to announce the successful launch of its new Aquablation therapy program, marking a significant advancement in treatment options for men with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), commonly known as enlarged prostate. The inaugural procedures have been performed by Dr. Adrian Ogle, who treated three patients—all of whom were discharged the following day with excellent early outcomes.

Aquablation therapy is an innovative, minimally invasive, procedure that uses a precise, heat-free waterjet to remove excess prostate tissue. The therapy combines real-time imaging and precision to tailor treatment to each patient, allowing for increased accuracy and a reduced risk of side effects. Benefits of Aquablation include faster recovery, minimal invasiveness, and preservation of urinary and sexual function—making it an important advancement for men with BPH.

“We are thrilled to bring Aquablation therapy to our community,” said Bert Beard, CEO of Maria Parham Health. “This program represents our commitment to offering the most advanced, evidence-based treatments to the patients we serve. I’m incredibly proud of our urology team, peri-operative staff, and leadership for their collaboration and dedication in making this launch a success. Seeing our first patients recover so quickly reinforces why this technology is so important for our region.”

Maria Parham Health’s adoption of Aquablation therapy underscores the hospital’s ongoing efforts to expand access to high-quality, technology-forward care. The health system looks forward to providing this advanced therapy to more patients in the months ahead.
