In recognition of Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, Maria Parham Health will offer free prostate cancer screenings on Thursday, Sept. 18, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Maria Parham Cancer Center.

The screening is open to men 50 and older, as well as high-risk individuals 45 and older, including African American men and those with a family history of prostate cancer. No appointment is necessary, and the screening typically takes only 15 minutes.

“Prostate cancer is highly treatable when detected early, and screenings are a crucial part of that early detection,” said Kimberly Smith, BSN, RN, Director of the Maria Parham Cancer Center. “This quick, simple exam could truly save a life, and we encourage every eligible man in our community to take advantage of this free opportunity.”

According to the American Cancer Society, prostate cancer is one of the most common cancers among men, but early detection significantly improves outcomes.
