Stay Strong for Life: Understanding Bone Health: Free Lunch & Learn on Bone Health
Maria Parham Health invites community members to attend Stay Strong for Life, a free Lunch & Learn on Thursday, September 10, from 12:00 to 1:30 p.m. in the John T. Church Classroom at Maria Parham Health.
Presented by Samantha Pernell, FNP, of Maria Parham Orthopaedics, this educational program will focus on bone health, osteoporosis, and other common orthopedic conditions that can impact mobility, independence, and overall quality of life.
Often called the "silent disease," osteoporosis can progress without symptoms until a fracture occurs. In fact, one in two women and one in four men over the age of 50 will experience an osteoporosis-related broken bone. During this informative session, Pernell will discuss who is at risk, the importance of early detection, ways to protect bone health through lifestyle changes, and treatment options available for osteoporosis and other musculoskeletal conditions.
"Maintaining strong bones is one of the best investments you can make in your long-term health," said Samantha Pernell, FNP. "By understanding your risk factors and taking preventive steps early, you can help protect your mobility, maintain your independence, and continue doing the activities you enjoy."
Lunch will be provided at no cost, and attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions during an interactive Q&A session with Pernell.
"At Maria Parham Health, we're committed to helping our community stay healthy through education as well as exceptional care," said Bert Beard, CEO of Maria Parham Health. "This Lunch & Learn is an excellent opportunity for individuals to gain valuable knowledge about protecting their bone health and living stronger, healthier lives."
