Maria Parham Health to Host Free Lunch & Learn on Peripheral Artery Disease

Maria Parham Health will host a free Lunch & Learn focused on Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD) on Wednesday, Sept. 23, from noon to 1 p.m. in the Maria Parham Health Auditorium. The educational event will feature Dennis I. Narcisse, MD, MS, Interventional Cardiologist, who will provide information about recognizing, preventing and treating PAD.

PAD is a common but often overlooked circulatory condition that occurs when narrowed arteries reduce blood flow to the limbs. While PAD can cause symptoms such as leg pain or discomfort during activity, some people may have few or no noticeable symptoms in its early stages.

“Peripheral artery disease is something people may overlook or mistake for simply getting older or being less active,” said Bert Beard, CEO of Maria Parham Health. “Recognizing the warning signs and understanding your risk factors can help people seek care earlier and potentially prevent serious complications.”

During the Lunch & Learn, Dr. Narcisse will discuss:

  • How to recognize the early signs and symptoms of PAD
  • Who is at risk for developing PAD and steps that may help prevent it
  • Current treatment options available for patients with PAD

If left untreated, PAD can lead to serious health complications, including an increased risk of heart attack, stroke and limb loss.

“Education is an important part of taking charge of your health,” said Beard. “We are pleased to offer our community an opportunity to learn directly from an expert and better understand a condition that can have serious consequences when left untreated.”

A complimentary lunch will be provided to attendees. Seating is limited, and registration is required.
