Local Hospitals Unite in Faith to Observe National Day of Prayer
May 01, 2025
In a powerful expression of unity and faith, three local hospitals — Maria Parham Health, Maria Parham Franklin, and Person Memorial Hospital — came together to honor the National Day of Prayer with simultaneous prayer gatherings across their campuses.
At exactly noon, team members, volunteers, and leaders paused their day to lift heartfelt prayers for the nation, their hospitals and patients, and for families everywhere. The observances served as a reminder of the strength found in community and shared spiritual reflection.
At Maria Parham Health’s main campus in Henderson, Chaplains William Brodie and Alfreda Evans, members of the Maria Parham Volunteer Chaplain Program, led an inspiring moment of prayer. In Louisburg, Pastor Jeremiah Baker of Flat Rock Baptist Church guided the observance at Maria Parham Franklin. Meanwhile, Person Memorial Hospital in Roxboro welcomed Pastor Tom Gearhart of Somerset Baptist Church and Pastor Don Sharp to lead their local gathering.
“These moments of collective prayer remind us that, despite our diverse backgrounds, we are united in hope, compassion, and the shared mission of healing,” said Bert Beard, CEO of Maria Parham Health. “We are grateful to the pastors and chaplains who led us today and to every team member who joined us in this observance.”
The National Day of Prayer serves as an annual invitation for people of all faiths to come together and reflect, and today’s gatherings across the Maria Parham and Person Memorial communities were a meaningful testament to the power of spiritual unity in healthcare.
