Maria Parham’s orthopedic team focuses on supporting patients with injuries to muscles, bones and joints that cause pain, physical limitation and reduced quality of life. Our orthopedic specialists offer a full range of the most advanced medical and surgical care that includes total joint replacement, hip resurfacing, foot, hand and upper extremity surgery, arthroscopy, trauma and fracture repair, arthritis treatment and sports medicine expertise. - Chronic pain management
Orthopedic pain has many different causes and an accurate diagnosis is crucial to getting the appropriate treatment. Common causes of pain may include osteoarthritis or injury to ligaments, tendons or bone. If joint pain is limiting your mobility and activity, a good diagnosis is your first step in resolving the pain.
The orthopedic physicians at Maria Parham are specialists in diagnosing and treating joint pain. As part of your evaluation and diagnosis, we will review your history along with performing a physical exam, including testing your range of motion and strength of muscles.
As a result of the exam the doctor may ask you to have an X-ray, an MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging), an arthrogram or an aspiration arthrogram, or a gadolinium scan. These tests will help the doctor make a diagnosis. (If you already have X-rays, please bring them with you)
We offer many effective treatment options and always begin treatment with the least invasive methods first. In more severe cases of joint pain, surgery may be recommended. Arthroscopic surgery is a minimally-invasive technique used to diagnose and treat joint problems. Maria Parham's orthopedic surgeons use highly specialized instruments, inserted through incisions about one-half inch in size, to reconstruct joints.
Other patients may require full joint replacement surgery. In each case, our orthopedic surgeons perform surgical procedures to lessen pain, reduce recovery time and allow you to regain the full use of the joint as soon as possible. A rehabilitation program will help you get back to function to your fullest potential following surgery.
