May 28, 2015
(Henderson, NC – May 26, 2015) – Maria Parham Medical Center (MPMC) recently announced that Melinda Langston, RN has been recognized as the hospital’s 2015 Mercy Award winner. The Mercy Award recognizes one employee from each of LifePoint Health’s more than 60 hospitals, including MPMC, who profoundly touches the lives of others and best represents the spirit and values on which the company was founded.
The Mercy Award program is an annual recognition that was established in 2002 to honor the life of Scott Mercy, LifePoint’s founding chairman and chief executive officer (CEO). The Mercy Award is considered the highest honor a LifePoint employee can receive.
“At Maria Parham Medical Center, we share LifePoint’s commitment to making communities healthier, and we recognize that this is supported by the great work and service of our employees both on and off the job,” said Brian Sinotte, Chief Executive Officer of MPMC. “We are extremely proud to recognize Melinda for her efforts on behalf of our patients and our community. She goes above and beyond each and every day to ensure that every person she encounters is treated with the highest level of care and compassion.”
Melinda has been a beacon of light for many during challenging time in their lives. Through her service in Maria Parham’s Emergency Department, in the community, and even abroad, Melinda has made a positive impact on everyone she comes in contact with. Melinda has been active in the United Way, Relay for Life, and the Samaritan Purse Ministry. She also teaches Sunday school, is a member of the church choir, leads morning worship, and is part of a medical mission trip to Haiti. Melinda has constantly given to make sure the needs for others in the community and around the world are met. Melinda’s spirit and love for life is contagious.
Each hospital winner, including Melinda, will be considered for LifePoint’s 2015 company-wide Mercy Award. The company-wide winner will be announced this summer and honored during a ceremony in Nashville, Tenn., in August, to which Melinda and all hospital winners are invited to attend.
