Walker & Wheelchair Bags Donated to MPMC

Donation made to Maria Parham Volunteer/Guest Services Department
Seen above is Faye Peoples of Henderson holding a walker bag and a wheelchair bag she made for the Volunteer/Guest Services Department of Maria Parham Medical Center. The volunteers then take these to the Rehabilitation Departments to give to patients. These brightly colored, handmade bags are not only pretty to look at, but very functional as well. Once the patient ties the bag onto their walker or wheelchair, they have a two-pocket storage space for anything they need to carry around with them, like their eyeglasses, medication, or a puzzle book with a pencil. Over the last few years, Peoples and others in the community who make similar bags have donated a great deal of them to the hospital.
Kathy Caudle, Director of Volunteer/Guest Services at Maria Parham is very appreciative for the donations made by these kind individuals. “It is good to know that there are people in our community who care enough about others to try to improve their situation,” she says. She goes on to explain, “Ms. Peoples and the others who make these items have no idea who they will ultimately be given to, yet they care enough to take their time and talent and buy materials to make something so useful for those who have trouble moving around. These items are very much appreciated by both the hospital and the patients who receive them.”
