MPMC to Host Blood Drive

There will be an American Red Cross Blood Drive at Maria Parham Medical Center, a Duke LifePoint hospital, on Friday, June 15th from 10:00 AM until 2:30 PM in the Classroom.  Appointments are suggested.  Walk-ins will be accepted during the hours of 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM.  Donors need to be at least 17 years old (sixteen year olds are now able to donate, as long as they have parental permission), in good general health the day of the drive and weigh at least 110 pounds.

Despite a mild winter and minimal flu season, the Southeast Blood Services Division of the American Red Cross has seen a dramatic decrease in blood and platelet donations in recent months.  All eligible donors are being urged to give blood soon.  Donors should have eaten a good meal and be well hydrated by drinking plenty of water in the days prior to donation.
