Senior Educational Opportunities at Centers

Maria Parham Medical Center Rehabilitation Services will soon offer two educational opportunities for senior adults in our area.  Ben Soydan, a physical therapist (PT) with the hospital’s Rehab Department, will speak on ‘Strength Training for Seniors:  Keeping Active As You Age’ at 11:00 AM on Thursday, September 13th.   In addition to being a PT, Soydan is also a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist, as well as a Certified Senior Strength Trainer.   The event will be held at the Vance County Senior Center on South Garnett Street.  Soydan will cover how the body changes with age, how strength training can help, fall prevention and what it means for you, safe and effective means of training and common misconceptions.  All senior adults with an interest in this topic are invited and encouraged to come.  For those that are not able to attend on the 13th, Soydan will present the topic again on Thursday, September 20th at the Warren County Senior Center on West Franklin Street in Warrenton.  This program will begin at 10:00 AM.
