Maria Parham to Host Blood Drive

Maria Parham Medical Center will host an American Red Cross Blood Drive on Friday, August 10th from 10:00 AM until 2:30 PM in the Hospital Classroom.  Appointments are suggested.  Walk-ins will be accepted during the hours of 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM.  Donors need to be at least 17 years old (sixteen year olds are now able to donate, as long as they have parental permission), in good general health the day of the drive and weigh at least 110 pounds.

Information just received from the American Red Cross says:  The American Red Cross blood supply continues to be at an emergency level. In fact, blood collections through the Red Cross are the lowest they have been in 15 years, due to extreme heat, severe storms and the mid-week Independence Day holiday.

 All eligible donors are being urged to give blood soon.  Donors should have eaten a good meal and be well-hydrated by drinking plenty of water in the days prior to donation.  Bring a picture ID with you as well.
